Pilates Changed the Way We Move

Pilates Changed the Way We Move

"At Pilathon, we don’t just teach Pilates, we teach people how to move for the rest of their lives."

— Emily Bench-Lahrssen

Emily Bench-Lahrssen is the founder of Pilathon, one of Miami’s leading Pilates education and movement studios. A former Doctor of Dental Medicine turned movement specialist, Emily’s journey into Pilates began with an endless fascination for anatomy, biomechanics, rehabilitation, and the incredible intelligence of the human body.

Trained alongside physical therapists and committed to lifelong education, she has spent more than 15 years refining a teaching approach that blends the timeless principles of Classical Pilates with modern movement science, clinical rehabilitation, fascial fitness, functional training, and performance optimization.

Since founding Pilathon in 2013, Emily has helped thousands of people, from complete beginners to professional athletes, dancers, weekend warriors, and individuals recovering from injury move better, feel stronger, and live with greater freedom. Her philosophy is simple: movement is medicine when taught with intention, precision, and purpose.

Emily’s expertise includes Clinical Pilates, Pilates for athletes, fascial fitness, pelvic floor rehabilitation, prenatal and postnatal exercise, meditation, healthy lifestyle coaching, and functional movement assessment. Every session is designed to improve mobility, strength, posture, balance, coordination, and resilience while honoring the uniqueness of every body.

Known for her meticulous attention to detail and her ability to “see” movement patterns that others often miss, Emily combines science with warmth, making every class both deeply educational and genuinely enjoyable. Her goal isn’t simply to give clients a great workout, it’s to teach them how to understand, trust, and care for their bodies for life. It’s a Work in!

Every instructor at Pilathon has completed our rigorous Comprehensive Teacher Training Program under the direct mentorship of Emily Bench-Lahrssen and Dr. Michele Tsinakis, Doctor of Physical Therapy and co-leader of Pilathon Education.

This is not a weekend certification. Every Pilathon teacher has successfully completed hundreds of hours of education, observation, self practice, supervised teaching, and comprehensive practical and written examinations before earning the privilege of teaching at our studio.

The quality of a Pilates studio is only as strong as the quality of its teachers

“We don’t simply hire instructors, we educate them”

That commitment to excellence means every class at Pilathon is led by a teacher who understands the body, movement mechanics, injury prevention, and the art of truly seeing the person in front of them. It’s why our clients consistently experience thoughtful coaching, individualized attention, and exceptional results.

The Journey Started With A Desire To Help People Feel Better.

Pilathon was founded on the belief that true wellness extends beyond physical fitness.
After discovering the transformative power of Pilates, our founder envisioned a space where movement, education, and community could come together under one roof. A place where people could improve their physical health while cultivating confidence, balance, and joy in their everyday lives.

Private Sessions

HOW TO BOOK:

Buy your class or package, email us wynwood@pilathon.com with your preferences in schedule to match your with our available teacher.

Who privates are for
You’re brand new to Pilates. Privates give you the groundwork, the vocabulary, the technique, the body awareness, so that when you do walk into a group class, you can really take advantage of your time.
Your body is doing something extraordinary. It deserves programming that honors that. We’ll meet you exactly where you are.
Not every body is ready for a group class. Privates let us go at your pace, work around your limitations, and build you back up safely.
You’ve been doing Pilates for a while. You know the moves. But you can feel there’s more, more precision, more connection, more understanding of what your body is actually doing. This is where that happens
You’ve been doing Pilates for a while. You know the moves. But you can feel there’s more, more precision, more connection, more understanding of what your body is actually doing. This is where that happens
Your first session starts with a real conversation. We want to know where you’ve been, where you are, and where you want to go. From there, every session is built around you. Progressive, intentional, and always evolving as you do.
This isn’t a one-size-fits-all program. It never will be!

THE BASICS

*Grip socks are required in every group class. No exceptions. We carry toesox at the studio, because we knew you’d forget
*One class per day per membership. Want to double up? A second class is $15. We respect the dedication.
*Classes do not roll over. Use them in the month you have them. We keep our prices fair and our classes small. Rollover just isn’t something we’re able to offer.
Your membership renews automatically every month. After your initial 3 months, it continues until you tell us otherwise.
Cancellations & No-Shows

We hold space for you. Please respect it.

If you can’t make it, cancel at least 12 hours before your class. Cancel after that window, or don’t show up at all , $25 late cancellation fee applies. The class does not come back. We know life happens, but so does our schedule.
We wish we could, genuinely. But we’re a small, independently owned studio. When we waive fees, it comes directly out of our ability to keep doing what we do. Our policies exist to protect the experience for everyone, including you. So please don’t put us in the position of having to say no. We really don’t enjoy it either.
You get 2 free freezes per calendar year. Need more? Additional holds are $45 each. Just email us at least 15 days before your requested freeze date and we’ll take care of it.
Want to switch tiers? Give us 7 days notice before your billing date. Heads up, any change in plan resets your 3-month commitment clock.
We get it, life changes. If you need to exit before your 3 months are up, here’s how it works:
Submit a written cancellation request 30 days before your last billing date. An early termination fee of $150 applies.
No hard feelings, just the policy that keeps a small studio like ours running.
